How to receive light for yourself (and how to give it to others)

Two Ways to Receive More Light​​

1. Find some new and fresh ways to embrace His Word — for His word is truth — and revelation of Truth is LIGHT. 
   1. Pick a book in the Bible such as John, Ephesians, or Collossians. 
      1. Read a chapter every day for a week.
      2. Make some notes on what is important to you.
      3. At the end of the week, you will have greatly increased your understanding of those verses. 
      4. Find a new/different English translation of the Bible. Consider the Passion Translation, Common English Version, The Message, or Good News Translation.
   2. Use the Bible App on your phone. 
      1. Pick a weekly devotion.
      2. Decide every day you won't use your device before you read Scripture. 
      3. Create a devotional journal in an app such as Apple Notes. 
   3. Find a study partner.
      1. Bible App has a feature to support accountability.
      2. Read the same chapter and then send each other your devotional comments. 
   4. Buy a new bible.
   5. Be Creative.
2. Embrace Prayer in a new way.
   1. Come pray with us on Friday nights!
   2. Learn the pattern of Philippians 4:6-7: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus

Three Ways to Be a Light for Others

1. Share the truth: Mark 16:15-18 
   And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.​
   1. Have a relationship goal -- be intentional.
   2. Know your story of his faithfulness.
   3. Pray for that person daily.
   4. Believe for healing miracles.
   5. Look for and create connections.
2. Make Disciples 
   Matt. 28:19-20
   Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.​
   
   1. Bring them to the Word.
   2. Invite them to US Groups.
   3. Bring them to a church service.
   4. Make them a partner in studying the Word.
3. Love Your Neighbour. 
   Matt. 22:39 and the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”​
   
   1. Show you care.
   2. Feed the poor and hurting.
   3. Be a blessing to the unbeliever.
   4. Visit the orphan and widow in their distress.
   5. Get involved in Doorstep:GO.

1 Peter 2: 12: having your conduct honourable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
